The technology of electric resistance welding
Electric resistance welded pipe is made of rolled steel plate or strip steel. We compact the welded part between two electrodes and use current to heat them until melting or plastic condition. The current flows through the contact area of welded part or its near area to produce resistance heat effect so that the metal can be coupled.
Differences between ERW and other welding type
Compare with the EFW and SAW, ERW has a obvious difference as a welding method. Electric resistance welding depends upon the skin effect and proximity effect of high-frequency current to make the edge of the steel plate or strip heated instantly rather than filler metal added and additional chemical components in the welds. The welds is formed by extrusion forging of the squeeze roller.
The great quality ERW require heat treatment online or offline to refine the welded area. The tensile strength of the high grade welds can reach the same quality of the base material. It can be not achieved through other welding processes.
