JIS G3457 arc welded steel pipe, STPY 400 steel grade, is used for low pressure. Conveying steam, water, gas, air and other fluid. Usually, these pipe should not be heat treatment.

Description:
JIS G3457 standard specifies that the arc welded carbon steel pipe is used for piping for steam, water, gas, air of comparatively low working pressure. Steel grade covers STPY 400 only. These pipes shall be either as welded or as cold-expanded after welding and shall not be heat treatment in the absence of a special request.

Method of manufacture:
The pipes shall be manufactured by spiral seam or straight seam welding. In either case, the internal and external surfaces of the pipe shall be automatic submerged arc welded in a butt joint.

JIS G3457 arc welded steel pipe shall be straight for practical purposes, and both of its ends shall be at right angles to its axis. The inside and outside surfaces of the pipe shall be well finished, and free from defects that are detrimental to practical use.
