Description of EN10219-1 standard

EN10219-1 standard applies to cold formed structural hollow sections including circular, square or rectangular without subsequent heat treatment. The raw materials shall be carbon steel or non-alloy quality steel. A process where the main forming is done at ambient temperature. Structural hollow sections shall be manufactured by electric resistance welding or submerged arc welding. Hollow sections manufactured by a continuous process shall not include welds used for joining lengths of the flat rolled strip prior to forming the hollow section except that for helically welded submerged arc-welded (SAW) hollow sections such welds shall be permitted when tested.  Electric resistance welded hollow sections are normally delivered without trimming the internal weld bead. Delivery conditions

The hollow sections shall be delivered cold formed without subsequent heat treatment except that the weld seam may bu in the as welded or heat treatment conditions. For SAW hollow sections above 508mm outside diameter it may be necessary to perform a warm shaping operation, which does not affect the mechanical properties, in order to meet the out-of-roundness tolerance requirements.

Surface conditions

1. The hollow sections we exported have a smooth surface corresponding to the manufacturing methods used; however, bumps, cavities or shallow longitudinal grooves resulting from the manufacturing process are permissible, provided the remaining thickness is within tolerance.

2. The ends of the hollow section shall be cut nominally square with the axis of the product. If the clients want to purchase the tubes of bevel ends, we need the further discussion.

3. For non-alloy hollow section repair of the weld and tube body shall be permitted unless otherwise specified.

Non-destructive testing of welds

The seam weld of all hollow sections with specific inspection and testing shall be subjected to a non-destructive test.
