Introduction of EN10255 standard

EN10255 standard specifies non-alloy circular steel tubes with socked or threaded end and provides a number of options for the finish of tube ends and coatings. This standard covers tubes of specified outside diameter 10.2mm to 165.1mm (thread size 1/8 inch to 6 inch) in two series, medium and heavy, and three types of designated thickness. The tubes shall be manufactured by a seamless or longitudinally welded process.

Tube ends

We will supply the bare tubes with external taper threading end or one socket per tube. The tube ends shall be cut nominally square to the axis of the tube and shall be free from excessive burrs.

Three types of designated thickness

Cold formed tubes of Type L shall be heat treated. The other series and types of tubes may be heat treated at the discretion of the manufacturer.

Marking

We will spray marks on tube body with the suitable and durable methods. Marking appears at least once within 1m of one end of each tube.

2. EN 10255 standard.

3. The symbols S or W (seamless or welded), to indicate the tube manufacturing process.

4. The symbols H or M (heavy or medium), and which type thickness (L,L1 or L2). The different series or type marking may be replace by different color coding at manufacturer’s option. The color coding bands shall be approximately 50mm wide.

5. The specified outside diameter, D or thread size, R.

6. Others according to the purchaser’s requests.
