Description of EN10217 SSAW steel tubes

EN10217 SAWH, also called SSAW, are made from normalizing rolled or hot rolled strip steel or plate by suitable processing methods. Steels shall be fully killed. The steel making process is at discretion of the manufacturer. Submerged arc welding is divided into single side submerged arc welding and double side submerged arc welding or submerged arc welding by both side. The width of basic material is not less than 0.8 times of the outside thickness of SSAW steel pipe we will manufacture.

Advantage of the spiral submerged arc welding compared with the straight welding

1. Different dimension steel tubes are produced from the same width strip steel or plate. For example, it is economical for us that a large diameter steel tubes can be made form a narrow width strip steel. We can save the materials in this way.

2. Undoubtedly, the usage of SSAW steel tubes reduces the production cost at the time of saving materials. Therefor, the price of SSAW is cheaper than that of straight welding for the steel pipes with the same size. The market demand increases.

3. A growing number of specifications of SSAW are emerging in the market. These pipes are extensively used for conveying fluid in low pressure instead of seamless steel tubes.
