ASTM A1037 Furnace Butt Welded Steel Pipe

Description

ASTM A1037 standard covers furnace butt welded, black, plain-end pr threaded-end, steel pipe for use in the conveyance of fluids under pressure. For plain end pipe, it is intended that the pipe be capable of being circumferentially welded in the field.

Outside diameter: NPS 1/2 to 4 (21.3-114.3mm)

Nominal wall thickness: 8.9mm or less as per ASME B36.10M

Nominal length: 6m, 12m, 15m

Packing: packed in bundles and wrapped both ends with steel strip or cotton rope

Pipe end protection: attaching plastic pipe cap if the client needs

Tensile requirements

Hydrostatic test

Each length of pipe shall be subject to the hydrostatic test without leakage through the weld seam or the pipe body. The minimum hydrostatic pressure, hereafter as the letter “P”, calculated from the follows,

P=2 X 0.6 X min yield strength in MPa X WT /OD

Tolerance on weight of the furnace-butt-welded steel pipeline

The weight of a single length of the pipe shall not vary more than +10%,-5% from its theoretical weight, the mass per unit length as below, OD and WT in mm

Weight (kgs/m)=(OD-WT) X WT X 0.02466

Tolerance on length of the furnace-butt-welded steel pipeline

Permissible variation in wall thickness

The wall thickness at any point shall be not more than 12.5% under the specified wall thickness.

Permissible variation in outside diameter

For the pipe OD60.3mm or over, the outside diameter shall not vary more than +/-1% from the specified. The pipe OD under 60.3mm according to the seller and buyer agreement.
