ASTM A519 Seamless Carbon And Alloy Steel Mechanical Tubing

There are several grades of carbon and alloy steel seamless mechanical tubing in ASTM A519 specification. The steel grade must be conformed between buyers and sellers before placing an order and listed in the agreement. When no grade is specified, grade MT1015 or MTX1020 will be supplied at the seller's option. Up to and including 12 3/4 in. (323.8mm) outside diameter for round tubes with wall thicknesses as client's required.

The purchaser shall specify a sizing method and, if required, a thermal treatment

A) HF--Hot Finished

B) CW--Cold Worked

C) RT--Rough Turned

D) G--Ground

2. Thermal treatments:

A) A--Annealed

B) N--Normalized

C) QT--Quenched and Tempered

D) SR--Stress Relieved or Finish Anneal

The tubing shall be free of laps, cracks, seams, and other defects as is consistent with good commercial practice. The surface finish will be compatible with the condition to which it is ordered.When specified, tubing shall be coated with a film of oil before shaping to retard rust. Should the order specify that tubing be shipped without rust retarding oil, the film of oils incidental to manufacture will remain on the surface. If the order specifies no oil, the purchaser assumes responsibility for rust in transit. Unless otherwise specified, tubing may be coated with a rust retarding oil on the outside and inside surfaces, at the option of manufacturer.

Special smooth inside surface

Tubes under this specification is intended for use where the inside surface is of prime importance and no stock removal by the user is contemplated. This product differs from conventional mechanical tubing in that special processing or selection, or both, are necessary to obtain the required surface.
