What is electric fusion welding process?
Electric fusion welding (EFW) is a fusion welding process that utilizes an electric arc to melt the base and filler materials, creating a strong weld joint. It is commonly used for joining large diameter steel pipes, particularly in industries like oil and gas, water, and construction. Electric fusion welding process is known for its high connection strength and ease of fabrication.
Features of electric fusion welding process
1. High connection strength: By using electric arc to melt the base and filler materials, achieving the connection between pipe fittings and steel pipes, or between two steel pipes, which has high connection strength and good stability.
2. High degree of automation: Modern electric fusion welding machines are able to automatically control the heating process, achieving precision welding.
3. Strong sealing performance: Heating the resistance wire with a dedicated welding machine to melt and bond the inner surface of the pipe with the outer surface of the pipe, forming a firm seal after cooling.
Comparison with electric resistance welding process
Electric fusion welding process is different from electric resistance welding process. While both are used for pipe manufacturing, electric resistance welding process uses resistance heating to fuse the edges of the steel, whereas electric fusion welding process uses an electric arc.
