Introduction of ASTM A179 seamless steel pipe

ASTM A179 seamless steel pipe is specially used for manufacturing of heat exchanger and condenser tubes. It is made of cold drawn process. Which makes ASTM A179 seamless steel pipes have higher performance. The precision of the outer diameter of ASTM A179 cold drawn seamless steel pipes is very high, and the wall thickness is more uniform than ordinary seamless steel pipes. In additions, it also has good fatigue resistance. But compared with the hot rolled seamless steel pipe, ASTM A179 seamless steel pipes have poor toughness.

After the final cold draw pass, steel pipes shall be heat treated at a temperature of 650℃ or higher. And the steel pipes shall have a hardness number not exceeding 72 HRBW.
