ASTM A815 Wrought Stainless Steel Reducers
Introduction
Reducers can be used when the flow of fluids changes, such as increasing or decreasing, but the flow velocity little changes. Reducers shall be divided into concentric reducer and eccentric reducer.
ASTM A815 Specification covers two general classes, WP and CR, stainless steel fittings of seamless and welded construction. All classes of fittings shall be heat treated.
Class WP pipe fittings are subdivided into four subclasses: Classes WP-S, WP-W, WP-WX, and WP-WU
a) Class WP-S pipe fittings are those manufactured from seamless product by a seamless method of manufacture, marked with class symbol WP-S.
b) Class WP-W pipe fittings are those which contain welds where the fitting fabrication or construction welds have been radiographed, marked with class symbol WP-W.
c) Class WP-WX pipe fittings are those which contain welds where all welds have been radiographed, marked with class symbol WP-WX.
d) Class WP-WU pipe fittings are those which contain welds where all welds have been ultrasonically tested, marked with class symbol WP-WU.
e) Class CR fittings are those manufactured to the requirements of MSS SP-43.

Surface finish and corrosion protection
a) Fittings supplied under this specification shall be examined visually. The fittings shall be free from surface discontinuities and shall have a workmanlike finish.
b) Surface discontinuities deeper than 5% of the specified nominal wall thickness shall be removed by the manufacturer by machining or grinding to sound metal, and the repaired areas shall be well faired. The wall thickness and the diameters at all point shall be shall be within the specified limits.
c) We can varnish, galvanize or coat other anti-corrosive layers on the internal and external surface of the steel reducers subject to the contract so that the commodities avoid rusting in transit.
