Compared with the 15CrMo steel, 15CrMoG steel have a letter G in its name. The letter G means that boiler and high temperature. 15CrMoG and 15CrMo steels have similarities, but they are not exactly the same. Different execution standards
1. The standard for 15CrMoG steel is GB/T 5310, which is a standard that is specially designed for manufacturing of high-pressure boiler tubes.
2. 15CrMo steel is covered by multiple standards, such as GB/T 8162 (seamless steel pipes for structural purpose), GB/T 8163 (seamless steel pipes for fluid service), and GB/T 3087 ( seamless steel pipes for low and medium pressure boiler), etc. These standards are mainly suitable for general seamless steel pipes that cannot withstand high pressure.
Different requirements for performance
1. For 15CrMo steel, it has certain oxidation resistance and heat resistance in high-temperature environments, but high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance is poor than 15CrMoG steel.
2. Compared with the 15CrMo steel, 15CrMoG steel has higher requirements for performance, which still has good heat resistance, oxidation resistance, and corrosion resistance in high-temperature and high-pressure environments. It is suitable for manufacturing of the steel pipe that is used in harsh working environments.
Different applications
15CrMo steel pipes can meet the requirements for general structural or fluid transport applications. If the steel pipe is used in high-temperature and high-pressure environments, the steel pipe should be made of 15CrMoG steel to ensure the safety and stability.
In summary, 15CrMo steel and 15CrMoG steel have similarities, but due to the differences in performance requirements, 15CrMo steel and 15CrMoG steel cannot be completely interchangeable for using. Suitable materials should be selected according to practical application needs.
