The main differences between hot-dip galvanized pipes and pre galvanized pipes lie in their process,adhesion,anti-corrosion ability, inner and outer wall treatment, and application scenarios.
1.Difference in craftsmanship
Hot dip galvanized pipes adopt high-temperature hot-dip galvanized process, and the zinc layer is obtained at high temperature, while pre galvanized pipes(also known as electroplated galvanized pipes) are electroplated at ordinary temperature. This means that the znic layer of hot-dip galvanized pipes is formed by reacting molten metal with the iron substrate to form an alloy layer, thereby bonding the substrate and coating, while pre galvanized pipes only brush a layer of zinc on the surface without true metallurgical bonding.
2.Difference in adhesion
The adhesion of hot-dip galvanized pipes is strong and not easy to peel off, because the hot-dip galvanized process used forms a metallurgical bond between the steel pipe substrate and the zinc layer. In contrast, the zinc layer of pre galvanized pipes is very thin and simply attached to the steel pipe substrate, resulting in weaker adhesion and easy detachment of the zinc layer.
3.Difference in anti-corrosion ability
The coating of hot-dip galvanized pipes is thicker, therefore it has stronger anti-corrosion ability and can effectively prevent corrosion. The pre galvanized pipe has a uniform coating and good surface quality, but due to its coating thickness generally ranging from a few micrometers to over ten micrometers, its anti-corrosion ability is relatively weak.
4.Difference in inner and outer wall treatment
The inner and outer walls of hot-dip galvanized pipes are galvanized, while pre galvanized pipes are only galvanized on the outer wall of the steel pipe, and the inner wall is not galvanized
5.Difference in application scenarios
Due to its strong adhesion, thicker coating, and bettter corrosion resistance,hot-dip galvanized pipes are more suitable for applications such as construction that require high corrosion resistance.Pre galvanized pipes are suitable for application scenarios that require surface quality and basic anti-corrosion requiremets.
