What is hot-dipped galvanizing?

The molten metal reacts with the iron matrix to produce an alloy layer, so as to combine the matrix and the coating.

Procedure for hot-dip galvanizing

In order to obtain high-quality hot-dip galvanizing, the steel must be properly treated before being immersed in a molten zinc bath. During the surface preparation phase, the material is degreased / caustic, pickled and fluxed.

After the surface treatment, the steel is immersed in a pool of molten zinc. The zinc pool must contain at least 98% pure zinc and be maintained at a temperature between 815º-850ºF.Then the zinc reacts with the iron in the steel to form a series of metallurgically bonded zinc-iron alloy layers with the final top layer 100% zinc.
