JIS G3459 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipes

Introduction

Multiple grades are specified by JIS G3459 standard, they can be divided into three types: Austenitic series, Austenitic-Ferritic series, and Ferritic series. Austenitic stainless steel contain a number of nickel elements, with high toughness and plasticity, without magnetism. This stainless steels have excellent processibility and corrosion resistance, but low strength. Compared with Austenitic stainless steel, Ferritic stainless steel contain a little nickel elements. Ferritic stainless steel has the characteristics of high thermal conductivity, low expansion coefficient, good oxidation, and excellent stress corrosion resistance. But it has multiple disadvantages that limit its applications such as poor plasticity, poor welding performance, and the corrosion resistance significantly decreases after welding. Austenitic-Ferritic stainless steel combines the characteristics of Austenitic and Ferritic stainless steels, which has high strength, good plasticity and toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance, especially the resistance to intergranular corrosion and chloride stress corrosion has been significantly improved.
