Introduction

Process requirements

The manufacturing process of ASTM A688 stainless steel pipe is cold worked process. For seamless tubing, seamless tubing shall be supplied from a cold finishing process. Hot finishing as the final sizing process is not allowed. For welded tubing, the tube shall be made from flat-rolled steel by an automatic welding process with no addition of filer metal. Subsequent to welding and prior to final heat treatment, the tubes shall be cold worked.
