ASTM A213 Seamless Alloy-Steel Boiler Tubes

ASTM A213 standard covers seamless steel boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes with low alloy steel quality and ferritic, austenitic stainless steel quality. The tubing sizes and thicknesses usually furnished to this specification are 3.2mm in inside diameter to 127mm in outside diameter and 0.4 to 12.7mm, inclusive, in minimum wall thickness or, if specified in the order average wall thickness. Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be either hot finished or cold finished. Heat treatment shall be carried out separately and in addition to heating for hot forming.

Operations

When inserted in a boiler or tube sheet, ASTM A213 tubes shall stand expanding and beading without showing cracks or flaws. Super heater tubes, when properly manipulated, shall stand all forging, welding, and bending operations necessary for application without developing defects.
